Sculptra® is an injectable treatment that contains poly-L-Lactic acid, which is biocompatible and biodegradable substance that is gradually absorbed by the body.
Sculptra® treatment in people with healthy immune systems works by stimulating the bodies own collagen to smooth out wrinkles and lines. It is injected under the skin, where strands of collagen that support the structure of the skin are present. Sculptra’s three -dimensional volumising effect restores lost facial volume, resulting in a fuller younger-looking face, décolletage and hands.
A treatment regimen of up to four injection sessions (one or two vials per treatment session) scheduled about four to six weeks apart may be required to achieve optimal results.
The treatment starts to take effect between two weeks and two months, leading to a gradual improvement in the areas treated. Clinical studies have shown that the treatment results of Sculptra can last for more than three years.
Bedford Skin Clinic is possibly the largest Sculptra treatment provider in United Kingdom and we have clients from all over the country coming to us for Sculptra treatment. We use the Sculptra for the following purposes:
We do not recommend Sculptra specifically for the tear trough area, although Sculptra treatment in the face can lead to an improvement in the appearance of tear troughs.
At Bedford Skin Clinic, we inject Sculptra using a cannula, the most advanced methods of Sculptra treatment, hence there is minimal downtime and complications are rare. The treated area looks slightly swollen for a few days and there is a small possibility for bruising. There is minimal discomfort after the procedure and we advise our clients to take oral paracetamol if required. Clients can usually get back to normal activity on the next day.
